![]() Its purpose is to recognize high achievement in Spanish or Portuguese and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Octavio Paz Chapter National Spanish Honor Society Candidates commit to majoring or minoring in art, or intend to include art as part of their careers. Once inducted, students must reapply each year. They may be inducted as sophomores, juniors, or seniors and must be in good academic standing. They are required to have a minimum of two semesters in art coursework and maintain a 93% average or better in art. Members are inducted in the fall of the senior year and must perform monthly tutoring sessions and compete in four math contests to maintain their status.Ĭandidates for the National Art Honor Society are invited by the Art Department to apply to the society based on the students’ artistic skill, commitment to art, and academic standing. Candidates must have an unweighted honors math GPA of 90% and weighted overall GPA of 87%. Their grades and behavior records are reviewed. Students who have completed honors level Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus classes are asked to apply as juniors to be inducted into Mu Alpha Theta. Mu Alpha Theta – Mathematics Honor Society To be inducted into the Science National Honor Society, students must have and maintain a non-weighted GPA of 87% or higher and a science GPA of 92% or higher, have taken four years of science including at least one AP course, have pursued science outside the classroom, and provided science related service to the community. ![]() To be inducted into the National Honor Society, students must have a weighted GPA of 90%, be enrolled in an advanced curriculum, and demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Students who excel in various subject areas as they strive for their academic best are recognized with induction to honorary societies. Each society requires students to continue to develop their God-given talents and to share them with the community in various ways. McNicholas students are challenged to achieve their academic best. ![]()
